Live Gamer ULTRA - GC553
This error is received when you're about to capture from your PC (either Current or Other PC setup) and your AMD GPU is set to HDCP on mode. In order to fix the situation please enter AMD Radeon utility Display settings and make sure to disable HDCP as shown on below screenshot.
Please follow below steps
1.Start OBS Studio→Source”+” Video Capture Device
2.Device→CO711BC 4K USB Capture
Resolution→ please select the same resolution with your input source
FPS→please select the same resolution with your input source
3. Source”+” Audio Input Capture
4.Device→HDMI (CO711BC 4K USB Capture)→OK
5.Advanced Audio Properties
6.Audio Monitoring→Monitor and Output
Please note that these type of issues most of the time can be traced back to the HDMI cable that is used for the connection.
It’s possible that the HDMI cable is broken or not support the input resolution, a long cable might result weak signal too.
In order to fix such issues please try to
1. Switch to another HDMI cable
2. Use Premium High Speed HDMI certified (HDMI 2.0) cables
3. Try a shorter HDMI cable
This issue can be fixed by adjusting your motherboard’s BIOS (CPU CLOCK) settings.
Enter BIOS (refer to below screenshot), select “Advanced” mode, then “Al Tweaker” page at CPU Core Ratio set “Sync All Cores”.
When setup Live Gamer Ultra with PS4 Pro make sure to turn off/disable HDCP at PS4 console settings just like it’s shown on following video tutorial and leave RECentral 4 HDCP detection setting ON.
You can only rename the recorded file through RECentral Express.
● In OBS
1. Run OBS, click ‘Settings’
2. Choose ‘Output’ at left pane, and set the following options:
Output Mode → Advanced
Encoder → NVENC H.264 (if NVIDIA graphics card plugged)
Rescale Output → check and select “1920x1080”
Click ‘Apply’ and ‘OK’
In Streamlabs OBS
1. Run Streamlabs OBS, click Settings
2. Choose ‘Video’ at left pane, and set the following options:
Base (Canvas) Resolution → input 2560x1440
Output (Scale) Resolution → input 2560x1440
3. Choose ‘Output’ at left pane, and set the following options:
Output Mode → Advanced
Encoder → NVENC (if NVIDIA graphics card plugged)
Scroll down to Recording, check ‘Rescale Output’,
Select “1920x1080” (Output Resolution box)
You can download AVerMedia Gaming Utility (hyperlink); run it and tap ‘Change Resolution’ to choose a preferred resolution, and click ‘Switch’ to replace it.
Some resolutions are optional and you need to connect a pass-through monitor that supported this resolution; afterwards, you can choose it.
1. PS4 only supports one way (through HDMI or USB earphone or controller) audio output at the same time.
2. If you have the headset plugged into the controller, all the audio will go to the controller and therefore, no audio will go through the device.
3. Our suggestion is to connect the headset to monitor with built-in speaker. If your monitor has no built-in speaker, you could connect the headset to your PC, but please noted you may face audio latency.
Before follow below steps, we would recommend close all streaming software, such as RECentral, OBS or XSplit.
(1) Unzip “GC553_Recovery_Utility_20180909.zip” file to a folder
(2) Plug GC553 into USB 3.1 Gen 1 port (Intel Chipset recommended)
(3) you can find a device named “WestBridge” from the device manager
(4) please right click and install the driver by selecting the path manually.
Selecting the path manually, then click OK.
After that, you can check if the device ”Cypress FX3 USB BootLoader” located on the “Universial Serial Bus controller” category.
(1) execute Recall.exe in unzipped folder
(2) then you can see message during the process:
(3) After that, it will recover the device.
(4) Download the latest firmware from the official website, and run firmware upgrade again.
The RECentral 4 recorded HEVC Main 10 HDR video footage can be uploaded to YouTube and played back directly in 2160p60 HDR format. In order to do so please remember to activate/ turn on HDR and WCG color setting.
To turn on HDR and WCG
You can also save your recordings on a USB drive and connect it directly to your 4K HDR TV (if your TV supports it) or to an HDR player connected to your TV video HDMI 2.0.
Please note that each 4K HDR monitor or TV panel will have different luminosity parameters, therefore you might experience a slightly different color representation while playing back your 4K HDR recorded video files.
If you would like to playback your 4K HDR files on your computer, we strongly suggest using “PotPlayer” and download “madVR” codec files. While playing the file on PotPlayer right click on the screen, select Video > Video Renderer > Madshi Video Renderer, this will allow you to properly playback HDR video format.
RECentral 4 shows “Device Occupied” error message
If you have already updated your system to Windows 10 
This error is resulted by the new update that controls the way of applications connecting your webcams and video capture devices.
Please refer to following steps to resolve the situation:
In Windows Search type “Privacy Settings” then click “Enter”
1. At Privacy Settings/ App Permissions/ Camera find the toggle and make sure to set it on
“Allow apps to access your camera”
2. At Privacy Settings/ App Permissions/ Microphone find the toggle and make sure to set it on
“Allow apps to access your microphone”
Make sure that your UAC (USB Audio Class) device (for example: GC510, GC513, GC570, BU110) is enabled* at Windows Volume panel under Recording devices.
*Note: if you plug microphone to your system that will be the default device, but UAC device still has to be enabled.
If your device is USB interface (for example: GC510, GC513, BU110) try to remove it from the connected USB port then plug it back.
Reinstall driver for the UAC device: remove the UAC device manually from Device Manager by right click on its name then select “Uninstall device”,
then at Device Manager/Action panel select “Scan for hardware changes”
Go into Windows Task Manager and at Services “Stop” RECentral service
then restart it by clicking “Start” it.
If you set graphic card codec in RECentral 4 settings, make sure to update your standalone graphic card driver to its latest version.
Please make sure to use HDMI 2.0 cables only for connecting PS4 PRO and the 4K TV to the Live Gamer Ultra capture card and confirm whether does the 4K TV HDMI IN port support
HDMI 2.0 specification. In general we recommend to connect Live Gamer Ultra to HDMI-1 port on your 4K TV.
Note that some TVs will need to adjust further settings:
Press the Menu button your TV remote.
Scroll down and choose options.
Select HDMI Input Mode.
Set the input mode to HDMI 2.0
The Nintendo Switch does not have a video out port - you cannot connect it directly to the Live Gamer Ultra.
Please connect the Nintendo Switch to its Dock that comes with the product package. That Dock has HDMI out.
1) Setup the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Dock as per Nintendo's instructions. Confirm that you get an image on a regular TV or monitor.
2) Unplug the Nintendo Switch Dock's HDMI cable from the TV or monitor. Leave the other end of the cable plugged into the Nintendo Switch Dock.
3) Connect the Nintendo Switch Dock to HDMI input port of your Live Gamer Ultra capture card using that same HDMI cable.
4) Connect the HDMI Out port of your Live Gamer Ultra to your TV using another HDMI cable.
5) Connect your Live Gamer Ultra to your computer, and launch RECentral 4.
Use the Type-C to Type-A cable, provided in the box, to connect the LGU
to your PC or Laptop.
Connect your monitor to the HDMI-OUT port for pass-through of captured content.
Connect your video source (console /graphics card / another PC) to the HDMI-IN port.
Download and install RECentral Software from AVerMedia official website.
If you want to output audio from gaming PC to your headset and to your AVerMedia game capture card simultaneously please follow steps detailed below:
1. Open “Settings” => “Sound” and enter the “Sound control panel”
2. At “Sound control panel/Recording”, “the stereo mixing device” might won’t show up at the first time. In this case right click on the mouse and check out the "Show disabled devices" option. The “stereo mixing device” will appear. However, the device at this point should be grayed out, make sure to enable it and click on apply.
After you clicked twice on the stereo mixer with the left mouse button, the following picture will appear. Please select the device usage mode field to enable, and then click Apply.
3. Then click to “Listen”, the below picture will show up, please check out "Listen to this device" and select the Digital output in the "Playback through this device" field.
4. Then set the stereo mix volume level to the appropriate level.
5. Select the Advanced panel and select "2 channels, 16 bits, 48000Hz (DVD quality)" in the Default format field. In general the HDMI PCM will provide the following sampling rate values: 44100, 48000, 96000, 192000Hz.
6. Finally, set the playback device to the "analog speaker" output, and that's it!
The above principle is focusing on the analog built-in mixer, so the computer's playback device must be set to analog speaker output, using the analog mixer on the output to the digital HDMI sound device (in this case the AVerMedia game capture card). Kindly note that the reversed setting will not work, because the sound card and the display card are different devices, and the HDMI of the display card does not support the digital mixer.
Please check following points in order to avoid issues with 4K input (console, PC, media player) and output (4K HDR TV):
STEP 1: Make sure to connect input source (HDMI IN) and 4K TV (HDMI OUT) by HDMI 2.0 (premium high speed HDMI) cables.
STEP 2: Connect 4K display. Otherwise the output will be limited to 1080p (full HD) resolution. Note: if you want to use HDR recording function you need to make sure that your 4K TV has HDR support as well.
STEP 3: Make sure the HDMI port connected to Live Gamer Ultra (GC553) is a HDMI 2.0 port on the 4K TV.
Some 4K TVs may only support 4K video via a DisplayPort cable and may have HDMI ports that are version 1.4, that only supports 4K at 30 fps.
If the Live Gamer Ultra is connected to a HDMI 1.4 port, then the consoles will limit resolution to 1080p60.
STEP 4: Make sure that the TV connected to Live Gamer Ultra has 4K resolution activated.
Some TV manufacturers have placed the option to enable 4K input in the settings.
This might result that the Xbox One X or PlayStation Pro connected to the Live Gamer Ultra fail to output 4K resolution.
The solution is to check the User Manual of your TV to ensure that 4K is enabled for the HDMI port you connect Live Gamer Ultra to.
STEP 1: Make sure to connect GC553 LGU with its USB Type-C cable to USB 3.1 Gen 1 (also called USB 3.0) port. We strongly recommend to use native Intel USB host controller.
STEP 2: Check Device Manager, GC553 LGU should be displayed under Sound, video and game controllers and Cameras.
STEP 3: To confirm what USB chipset you are plugging the LGU to download a free software called “USB Device Tree Viewer”. This will allow you to see which USB host you are connecting it to. In order to get the best experience, make sure it’s an Intel one as other hosts may have a high probability of having unstable speeds.
STEP 4: After installing RECentral 4 Live Gamer Ultra (GC553) will be detected as shown on following picture.
Due to stability issues and to ensure smooth and solid performance we highly recommend to run Live Gamer Ultra on Intel motherboard and plug it on native Intel USB host controller or Intel Gen 1 host.
Please use RECentral 4 embedded “Performance test” in order to confirm that you have the fastest connection ensuring stability and reliability.
To perform the test, click on the “Settings” icon on the upper left side, select the Live Gamer ULTRA and click on the “Performance” tab. Once there click on “Start” (it will take about 10 secs).
The performance test will let you know what resolutions and at which frame rate you can record. This table will depend on the pixel format you will like to record in, at the drop-down menu you can choose and see how these formats will affect your ability to record on which resolution and at which frame rate.
• YUV2: Medium quality, medium CPU usage
• NV12: Optimized performance, low quality, lowest latency, lowest CPU usage (default)
• RGB24: Highest quality, low latency, high CPU usage
• P010: HDR recording pixel format, high CPU usage (Only available for 1080p)
First of all connect your PlayStation 4 Pro directly to your TV set or display via HDMI cable, without using our product.
Then, visit the Settings > System section of the PlayStation 4 interface, and
Connect PS4 Pro to Live Gamer Ultra input via HDMI 2.0 cable.
If you use PS4 Pro connect 4K display to Live Gamer Ultra HDMI out (HDMI 2.0 cable necessary).
*Please note that BluRay/DVD content can’t be recorded due to HDCP copy protection.
STEP 1: connect Live Gamer Ultra with XBox One X/S via HDMI 2.0 cable
STEP 2: Make sure the Xbox is automatically detecting your game capture card. Go to System > Settings > Display & sound and choose Auto-detect. 4K isn't available when HDMI is manually selected.
STEP 3: Connect Live Gamer Ultra output port via HDMI 2.0 cable to your 4K TV.
For HDR experience, make sure your TV supports the HDR10 media profile. Check your TV manual to verify. Some manufacturers may not mention HDR10—look for support of BT2020 and HDR, or some of the names in the following list. (Also, there are two HDR formats: Dolby Vision and HDR10. Your TV can support both, but it must at least support HDR10.)
Names for HDR10: HDR Premium, High Dynamic Range, HDR, UHD Color, Ultra HD Premium, Ultra HD deep color.
STEP 4: Make sure your HDMI cable is plugged into the correct port on your TV. Some 4K TVs only support their full set of 4K features on certain ports. Refer to your TV manual to see if there are special 4K HDMI ports, or try the different ports on your TV.

Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii U
Solution 1: Install stream engine and adjust the setting in OBS
Please download and install RECentral 4 software, then adjust the setting in OBS as below:
1. click on “+”, and select Video Capture Device
2. Create UVC device name (e.g, Live Gamer Ultra-Video), then press OK.
3. Select “Live Gamer Ultra-Video”
4.Scroll down the bar, select :
3-1) Audio Output Mode> Output desktop audio (WaveOut)
3-2) Check “Use custom audio device”
3-3) Audio Device> AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra-Video Audio Stream Engine -1
Then press OK.
Solution 2: Adjust in OBS
Please adjust OBS settings:
1.Open OBS and right click on “Mixer” gear icon.
2.Under “Advanced Audio Properties”>>”Video Capture device”>>“Sync offset”option add value“200”(ms)
Please adjust OBS settings:
1. Open OBS and click on “Mixer” gear icon.
2. Under “Advanced Audio Properties”>>”Video Capture device”>>“Sync offset”option add value“200”(ms)
In order to ensure that the audio and video are in full sync please enter XSplit settings, select device and right click on the mouse, under “Offset (ms)” you can adjust A/V sync.
Please make sure to set “WaveOut” audio renderer to solve this issue, for settings refer to screenshot below:
At OBS you can set the audio delay shift value to ensure that you get fully synchronized recorded file.
In addition, if you set the output waveout, you do not need to change any settings, the recorded file will be synchronized.
1. OBS setting “Output desktop audio (waveout)” => Audio select “Stream Engine”
2. OBS setting “capture audio only” => Audio select “HDMI (Live Gamer Ultra-Audio)”.
*If Stream Engine is selected, the file's audio will be faster, in this case if you shift the audio back for 100ms the recorded footage will be synchronized.
